PREORDER Spotted Sheepskin / 8-10 weeks fulfillment time
IMPORTANT PREORDER DETAILS
Fulfillment time: 8-10 weeks from preorder closing | August 26 - September 9
Please note: This is a true preorder. Once the preorder closes, the order will be submitted to the tannery, where they will begin processing and shipping the sheepskins. The countdown begins when the order closes on July 1st. The timing is subject to change, and customers will receive email updates IF the window is extended. Otherwise, assume all is well, and you will be notified when the sheepskins have shipped to us!
Anticipated time of the sheepskins arriving at our shop in Redding is August 26th, but could be as late as September 9th. When they arrive at our shop, they will be shipped promptly following our employee’s work schedule (weekdays)
No other items may be added to the sheepskin preorder cart. If other items are added, the order will be promptly cancelled and refunded. Our shop is unable to set aside inventory to store for that period of time. Only sheepskin preorders are allowed.
Please note our shipping policy at the footer of our website. Returns due to personal preference will be refunded minus shipping costs, which the customer pays.
We are unable to cancel orders after July 1st, as the sheepskins will begin processing. After July 1st, your order will be considered final until it has shipped. However, we do have the ability to change addresses on the order after July 1st.
SPOTTED SHEEPSKIN DETAILS
SIZE RANGE — may range from 40"-48” long and 22" -28” wide at the widest point, measuring from fur to fur, but may vary a few inches from sheepskin to sheepskin, as this is a natural product and can’t be mass produced in the same size each time
PLUSH RANGE — may vary from plush (very thick when rolled up), to semi-plush (medium size when rolled up), or thin (thinner when rolled up). These sheepskins tend to be a medium to plush sheepskin.
FUR SOFTNESS — may range from soft to coarse. Plan on receiving a coarse sheepskin.
FUR LENGTH — may vary from 2” to 6”. Sheepskins will be chosen at random and assigned to boxes, and we do not have control over the fur length.
COLORING — may vary in shades of cream as the base, ranging from light cream to a deeper yellow. The spots may be dark brown or a lighter brown color. They may vary in size and variety, with some sheepskins having small patches of spots, and others having larger ones. They may appear more brown with white spots, or white (cream) with brown patches or spots.
Please note that due to this being a true order, and that sheepskins are a natural object, we are unable to accommodate preferences such as fur length, size, or coloring. We do not know the exact look of the sheepskins before they are sent to us. That is part of the surprise when ordering a preorder, and a natural item!
ABOUT THE SHEEPSKINS
You have fallen in love with our sheepskins, and for good reason! These heirloom-quality European sheepskins are snuggly and make for a beautiful addition to your home.
Sheepskins are made of wool, and the benefits of wool are numerous.
Temperature-regulating
Moisture-wicking
Antimicrobial
Antibacterial
Antinflammatory (from the lanolin!)
And they have been said to carry a high frequency that promotes relaxation
Our sheepskins are tanned in Europe at a family-owned tannery. They are cured with salt, then tanned using sawdust and OEKO-TEX certified vegetable fats sourced from Germany. These sheepskins are rescued from meat processing plants and farms and utilized to complete the life cycle of the sheep.
We consider our sheepskins to be ethical as they were not butchered for the skin; they are rescued from being tossed in a landfill. The sheepskins come from all over Europe, including the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.
The tanning process leaves behind a bit of lanolin on the skin. Lanolin is a wax that is produced by sheep to coat and protect the wool. It can be harvested and used on its own as a healing balm through the process of boiling wool and skimming the lanolin. Lanolin is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, its ability to calm angry and inflamed skin.
We love using our sheepskins for:
Sheepskin naps(babies and adults alike love them!)
Long car rides (the sheepskin squares make for a cozy ride as they can help relieve pressure spots)
Home decor(not much cozier than a sheepskin rug on the floor, or tossed over a couch, chair, or bed!)
A travel blanket(it makes for a cozy travel piece for little ones who struggle with change)
Our furry friends(pets tend to love the sheepskins!)
**By adding this sheepskin to your cart, you agree to our shipping and return policy, and agree to the policies mentioned in the preorder.**
DISCLAIMER: These are natural products and, as such, will have some imperfections that make them unique. This may include:
“armpits,” which are on four corners of the sheepskin. Sheep naturally don’t grow fur there, so they may appear to have bald patches!
Matting. As wool naturally mattes in nature to protect the sheep, you may see some matting on the sheepskin. This is naturally occurring in the tanning process and is a sign of a natural product!
Shedding. Some shedding is to be expected, just like with natural rugs like jute. You can expect some shedding as wool behaves similarly to hair!
Small patches of fur are missing. These are not noticeable to the eye unless you dig deep into the wool and hunt for them! Sometimes sheep have incidents occur that prevent wool from growing back (like rubbing against a tree or getting caught in a fence!), and they do not change or affect the quality of your sheepskin.
Small cuts or scrapes on the leather or markings on the back. In the tanning process, the leather is scraped clean. No matter how careful the tanners are, some scratches may occur as damp leather is quite sensitive to tears at that stage of the process! When dried and tanned, leather is extremely durable, and a small scratch or hole will not affect the quality.
